How to build GAMESS (1DEC1998) with CHARMM:

This is example for gnu platforms, but it should work with others, too.

0. run install.com gnu medium M X Q
   This way one obtains the tool/gmscomp_gnu file
1. copy *.src gms.tgz file to source/gamint directory
2. copy gamess.fcm to the source/fcm directory
3. unpack: gunzip -c gms.tgz | tar -xvf -
4. cd tool
5. setmk.com gnu # or whatever your platform is
6. If you are on Linux (or using GNU compilers) you may copy
   Makefile_gnu to build/gnu and pre.dat-for-gnu to build/gnu/pref.dat
7. install.com gnu
